SCOTT DUNCAN –
LORAIN COUNTY PARKS, AUGUST ART SHOW
August 1- 31, 8am-4:30pm daily
Carlisle Visitor Center
Hi! My name is Scott Duncan, and I have lived in Elyria all my life. I am married to a wonderful woman, Tara, and have two children. Elijah is nine, and Eliana is 6. I have always had an interest in photography, but didn’t really get into it until about a year ago. I have an advanced point and shoot digital, Kodak Z612, which many of these photos were taken with. About four months ago, I picked up my first Digital SLR, a Nikon D40x. That is what I use almost exclusively now. I have always enjoyed the Metro Parks and spend a lot of time in them with my family. For Christmas, we got our children nice digital cameras, so now we go out as a family taking pictures. We especially enjoy the Duck Pond Picnic Area and the Wildlife Observation Area at Carlisle Reservation and going to Sandy Ridge Reservation in North Ridgeville. Most of the photos in my show have been taken in the Metro Parks, Cascade Park and other beautiful areas of Lorain County, which I am proud to call home. Photography for me represents a great way to spend time with the family, and nature, and to see all that the world has to offer. More of my work can be viewed at www.flickr.com/photos/scottmduncan. I can be reached at sdunc21@yahoo.com as well.

MEET THE ARTISTS
Friday, August 15th
6 -7:00pm
Lissi T. Greeneisen, Potter
I’ve been “playing in the mud” over a period of 34 years. I love that there is so much to learn and that I seem to never stop investigating new forms and techniques. I’m still searching for my “style” and signature color pallet and truly believe that creating pottery is far cheaper than therapy and much more fun!
Some of the bowls in this collection explore a technique, new to me, of rolling the rim inward. I’m drawn to the softness of the shapes and the glazes that change depending on the light. Altering the bowls by piercing the rims transforms a simple, functional piece into a unique work of art.
I hope you enjoy my work!
Join us for a demonstration at 4pm and visit with the artists from 6:00 – 7:00pm. Enjoy food and beverage during this artists reception.

Joyce Bolte
October 1-31, 8am-4:30pm daily
Carlisle Visitor Center
Joyce Bolte’s passion for watercolors began nearly thirty years ago. Her love of nature is evident in her original paintings of florals, landscapes and seascapes. She takes advantage of the versatility of the medium by also experimenting with non-objective, abstract and collage.
As a participant in numerous juried and invitational fine art shows, she has been the recipient of many awards. In 2006 Joyce won first place in the fine arts category at the St. John Westshore Festival of the arts and a first place and best of show at the Fireland’s Area Art League competition. She has also exhibited at The Lakewood Arts Fest, The Crocker Park Fine Art Fair, The Berea Arts Festival and the Lorain County Metro Parks.
Joyce draws much of her inspiration from exploring nature’s beauty. With sketchbook and camera in hand, she often journeys on foot or by mountain bike searching for subject matter. Later, in her studio, these experiences are translated into her original watercolor paintings.
She is a current, associate member of both The Ohio Watercolor Society and The American Watercolor Society. In addition to painting, she also enjoys teaching watercolor classes, tending her extensive organic gardens, and mountain biking.
Erie Shores Photography Club
September 10, 7pm
French Creek Nature Center
Photographer lovers are invited to attend the first meeting of the The Erie Shores Photography Club for the 2008-09 season on September 10 at 7pm at the French Creek Nature Center. Our guest speaker will be Tom Jones presenting his program entitled 'Cuyahoga Valley in Concert'. All are welcomed to attend this presentation.
As a young man, Tom began his career playing the French Horn in the Cleveland Orchestra. In time, he became interested in photography. In this presentation he combines these two loves; he has digitally recorded the sounds of nature - waterfalls, birds, and wind - and blended them with music to create a meaningful woodland experience.
Tom is a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Photography Club. His company, Buckeye Photos, plublishes photos of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and northeast Ohio. His photos have appeared in local newspapers, The National Geographic's Guide to American National Parks and the 2009 Cuyahoga Valley National Park calendar.
