7/24 SCIENCE CAMP 9am-3pm French Creek Nature Center Science camp for those entering 6th and 7th grades. Pre-register & PAY $20 by 7/7 7/24 HEART HIKE 9-10 am Lakeview Park Every Thursday a recreational specialist will lead the group through workout stations and hiking. After 10 receive a water bottle, after 20 a pedometer. MODERATE hike. 7/24 NATURE KNOWLEDGE HIKING SERIES: MACRO-INVERTEBRATES 10-11:30 am French Creek Reservation - French Creek Nature Center CNC. Learn how to identify macro-invertebrates (a.k.a. little critters) found in the French Creek. See related article. MODERATE hike. 7/24 DARLING DEER! 4-5:30 pm Vermilion River Reservation - Carriage Barn Learn about the natural history of deer through games and activities. Kid and family friendly. 7/24 OH THOSE BUZZING BEES! 7-8 pm Vermilion River Reservation - Carriage Barn Dave Williams will talk about bee basics, including pollination strategies and bee biology. Honey samples will be available for tasting. Pre-register by 7/21.

 

The goal of this project is to restore the grandeur and beauty of Lakeview Park’s Rose Garden as historically correct as possible while recognizing and understanding the balance between history and today’s accessibility and public needs issues.

To be able to complete this goal, we need your help. We are asking the citizens of Lorain County to donate a gift to the Rose Garden. What a wonderful way to remember a loved one, honor a family member, celebrate a birth of just enjoy assisting with the renovation of a beautiful garden.

Different levels of sponsorship are available:

Lakeview Rose Sponsor

• $100 Gift – sponsors a rose to be planted in the name of a loved one.
• $250 Gift – sponsors a rose from a pre-determined list of roses to be planted in the name of a loved one. Click here to see color choices.

Lakeview Park Sponsor

• $500 Gift - your gift sponsors one of the new park benches. A plaque will be placed on the bench remembering your gift.
• $1000 Gift - your gift sponsors a flower bed near the beach house or plaza garden.

Donations of less than $100.00 are recognized on the online donation system and the plaque at Lakeview Park.

Recycling Now at
Lorain County Metro Parks!

The Lorain County Metro Parks has teamed up with Abitibi Consolidated to offer you the opportunity to recycle! How? Just bring your newspapers, magazines, shopping catalogues, office paper and junk mail to the designated park sites and place them in the bright green and yellow containers and you're done! Better than that? Abitibi will pay the Metro Parks to haul this away! Call (440) 458-5121 for more information.
