BUTTERFLY GARDEN OPEN

French Creek Nature Center is now hosting the Butterfly Garden. This fun garden is full of different kinds of butterflies you can see up close. The garden is open daily 10am-4:30pm through September 1. French Creek will have several programs centered around this Garden. For more information call (440) 949-5200.

The Renovation of the Lakeview Park Historical Rose Garden

The goal of this project is to restore the grandeur and beauty of Lakeview Park’s Rose Garden as historically correct as possible while recognizing and understanding the balance between history and today’s accessibility and public needs issues.

To be able to complete this goal, we need your help. We are asking the citizens of Lorain County to donate a gift to the Rose Garden. What a wonderful way to remember a loved one, honor a family member, celebrate a birth of just enjoy assisting with the renovation of a beautiful garden.

Different levels of sponsorship are available:

Lakeview Rose Sponsor

  • $100 Gift – sponsors a rose to be planted in the name of a loved one.
  • $250 Gift – sponsors a rose from a pre-determined list of roses to be planted in the name of a loved one. Click here to see color choices.

Lakeview Park Sponsor

  • $500 Gift - your gift sponsors one of the new park benches. A plaque will be placed on the bench remembering your gift.
  • $1000 Gift - your gift sponsors a flower bed near the beach house or plaza garden.

Donations of less than $100.00 are recognized on the online donation system and the plaque at Lakeview Park.

Lorain County Metro Parks!

The Lorain County Metro Parks has teamed up with Abitibi Consolidated to offer you the opportunity to recycle! How? Just bring your newspapers, magazines, shopping catalogues, office paper and junk mail to the designated park sites and place them in the bright green and yellow containers and you're done! Better than that? Abitibi will pay the Metro Parks to haul this away! Call (440) 458-5121 for more information.
