The Friends of the Metro Parks of Lorain County is an independent non-profit organization that supports Lorain County Metro Parks through volunteer staffing. Volunteers serve Lorain County Metro Parks in many capacities. Volunteer corps provide individuals with year-long opportunities ranging from public relations to conservation. In addition, volunteers play a vital role in the success of many popular park programs. One of the corps, trail volunteer are similar to “Neighborhood Watch” or “Crime Watch” programs, they promote park visitors and neighbors taking a more active role in protecting and preserving YOUR parks. Trail volunteers monitor park areas in many ways, including foot, bicycle and roller blades. They assist the Park District by being an extra set of eyes and ears, helping visitors, and by reporting safety and other concerns.
