The Visitor Center |
 |
Perched on the edge of the Wellington South Reservoir, the Wellington Visitor Center offers visitors views of the lake from two levels. The lower entry level features a large meeting room with windows that overlook the water, an attractive stone fireplace, and high ceiling – a perfect location for your group or family function. This room, along with a small adjoining kitchenette, is available for group use by reservation. Access to the second level is available to all visitors via stairs or wheelchair lift. There, visitors can view art shows and displays, or view the landscape from the observation deck. |

Over 4 miles of paved and crushed stone trails meander through the Wellington Reservation’s grassland fields and wetland habitats. Accessible to wheelchairs and strollers, the loop trail system can be used for any non-motorized activity all at once or in parts – the length of the trail is up to you. Each loop highlights a different section of the park providing visitors with a variety of vistas across the lake, from atop an elevated observation mound, and throughout the intermittent wetlands in the grassland prairies.

After a hike on the trail, take a paddle on the water! The 21-plus acre lake formed by the Wellington South Reservoir offers opportunity for boating and fishing. Cruise around the open water and visit the inlets of the lake on one of our four-person pontoon paddle boats available free of charge or bring your own non-gas motorized fishing boat and drop a line or two. 107 million gallons of water is sure to hold a few big Largemouth Bass, Channel Catfish, and a whole lot of Bluegill. Park closes at dusk – night fishing is not permitted.
